Brisbane, Queensland – Biosecurity Commons, the ground-breaking platform for modelling and analysing biosecurity risk and response, has secured investment to keep developing the project into 2024.
This will ensure Biosecurity Commons continues into the new year, allowing the team to keep improving the platform, the user experience and broaden the scope of what the platform can do.
The investment comes from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry (DAFF) and will continue through to June 2024.
During the initial funding period for Biosecurity Commons, which ran from 2021 to 2023, the platform was developed as a proof-of-concept and launched in May 2023.
As that funding period finished, the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) provided further investment to keep the project going until the new investment from DAFF was secured.
This exciting development will allow the team at Biosecurity Commons to pilot the platform’s functionality over the next year and further refine the platform to ensure it meets the needs of its users while also expanding into new areas.
Dr Rob Clemens, Project Manager at Biosecurity Commons, said: “This is great news for the project. We would like to thank DAFF for providing investment and sharing our vision for the platform. We would also like to thank ARDC for their investment too.
“The next year will be very exciting as we look to engage with our stakeholders to build on what the platform already offers and continue to bridge the gap between science and professionals working in the sector.”
